How will I gain experience?
Mount Mercy offers an art internship program, which is designed to give
practical, on-the-job experience to complement academic studies and will
be evaluated on a pass/fail basis. You will be placed in an art workplace
and your placement will vary according to the your interests and art faculty
recommendations. Interns work approximately 25 hours per week and have
weekly contact with your supervising instructor throughout the duration
of your internship. As an art major, you are not required to do an internship
to graduate, but students have interned at:
- Local advertising
agencies as graphic designers
- Grant Wood Area
Education Agency as graphic designers
- CSPS as the assistant
to the Curator
- Cedar Rapids
Museum of Art as the assistant to the Curator
