How will I gain experience?

As a computer science major, you’ll have the opportunity to gain more specialized knowledge by taking advanced courses in such areas as operating systems, artificial intelligence and object-oriented topics. You’ll be given practical, hands-on experience with modern equipment conveniently located on campus.

Computer information systems majors will complete a three to six hour internship with a local company, and will complete a research project for that organization.

In addition, there are work-study opportunities with the college’s own I.T. staff -- the Department of Technical Support Services (TSS). Students working for TSS are exposed to a wide range of computer tasks. Whether it is programming, database work, or hands-on hardware repair, work-study students get to see many sides of the computer industry while earning money and gaining valuable experience.
