Mount Mercy College offers degrees in computer science and computer
information systems. Students learn about computers and programming
languages in use today, and gain strong theoretical knowledge that will
allow them to adapt to new technology as it is developed. At Mount Mercy,
you will receive individual attention from experienced professors.
The computer science program aims to give you a broad base of knowledge
in the rapidly changing field of computing. Your problem-solving skills
will be honed by your study of subjects like computer organization,
data structures, operating systems, assembly language, and programming
language organization.
The computer information systems program will provide you with the skills
and knowledge necessary to design, administer, and maintain a computer
network. Combined with knowledge in computer science, you will also
gain specific information necessary to understand networks and communicate
within the professional community.
A popular complimentary major is mathematics, which requires only eight
more courses for a double major. Some students also choose to major
in both computer science and computer information systems.
