How will I gain
experience?
Internships will help you gain experience, and are available at local
institutions. Although it is not required, most students complete at
least one placement. Typically, an internship is for three credit hours,
requiring 120 hours in the field. You will be strongly encouraged to
take advantage of this opportunity while at Mount Mercy. Students have
interned at:
- Anamosa Mens
State Prison, counselor
- Juvenile Detention
Center, youth worker
- Public Defenders
Office, with attorneys and investigators
- Local police
departments
- Community correctional
facility/half way house
- Department of
Transportation, with the Investigative Unit
- Oakdale Prison
