Edy Parsons (Chair)
specializes in American and East Asian History. Her expertise in both
western and non-western fields allows her to introduce valuable new
perspectives on the world to her students. Edy's forthcoming book,
Facing the Aliens: Asian American Identity Through the Eyes of
Both Cultures, 1870s - 1940s, provides an excellent example of
her recent research. Her courses include Modern East Asia, Recent
American History, the American Nation, and the U.S. and the Vietnam
War, among others. She also has an interest in the fields of Social
and Cultural history. Edy has a real gift for encouraging her students
toward active participation in her classes, and she enjoys getting
to know them individually.

Jay Shuldiner
specializes in European History. His more than thirty-five years
of teaching give him an extensive knowledge of numerous fields.
He currently teaches courses such as the History of the Western
World, Medieval Europe, Modern Europe, Modern Britain, Imperial
Russia, and the Soviet Era. Occassionally Jay offers an additional
specialty course, such as a class on the Holocaust or a class on
America's First and Second City: New York and Chicago. Additionally,
Jay's board service at area institutions helps create opportunities
for internships and special programs for dedicated students. He
utilizes his multi-faceted teaching experience and service to supplement
his additional role as an academic advisor.

With more than twenty years of teaching experience, Allison McNeese
specializes in the fields of American and Latin American History.
She also has interests in Women's History and the History of Iowa,
among others. She currently offers courses in all areas of American
History, as well as in the history of a variety of Latin American
countries, and has occasionally offered specialty topics such as an
Honors course in Conspiracy Theory. Allison likes to experiment with
new technological methods in her teaching, and looks forward to sharing
her knowledge with her students.
