Human
Resource Management
The management of human resources has become one of the most important
aspects of business management today. Mount Mercy Human Resources Management
students understand the knowledge and skills necessary to manage and
lead employees in any area or level in the organization.
Our Human
Resource Management Major is one of only ten undergraduate
programs across the country to be endorsed by the Society
for Human Resource Management (SHRM) based on the guidelines
created by SHRM and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of
Business (AACSB). Thirteen major content areas, based on extensive research
analysis, prepare students to lead employees in high performance work
practices.
The major can also help students prepare for the Human Resource Management
Certification programs (PHR and GPHR) that are available through the
Society of Human Resource Management.
The Human
Resource degree provides students with:
• The ability to identify the internal and external
organizational environment, and predict the impact on the human resources
of the organization.
• The proper processes and tools for negotiation
and resolving disputes.
• The knowledge and skill to develop effective human
resource strategy and planning for innovation in a global environment.
• Preparation to evaluate ethical, social, civic,
cultural, and political issues and how they relate to and impact the
human resources of an organization.
In addition to the Business core, the following courses in the Advance
