What will it
take to graduate?
Mount Mercy College awards a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech-drama,
with 30 credits required within the major to graduate. Want to know

of current offerings for the academic year. Classes can be added or
changed as needed.
To assess your experience and acquired skills, attitudes, and knowledge
in the fields of speech and theatre, you will complete the following
two activities in the senior year:
1. A portfolio collection of speech outlines, critiques, play programs,
and any other documents, which are evidence of your learning during
your studies at Mount Mercy College. You will have a discussion with
the department chairperson, which will include a summary of the your
experiences, skills, and knowledge based, on the review of your portfolio.
2. A senior project experience, which may be taken for one credit hour,
if you wish. Options include:
- Public speaking,
play directing, or acting for an on or off-campus audience
- A speech to a
community organization or club as part of the Mount Mercy College
Speakers Bureau
These will be designed
with each students interests, skills, and needs in mind. It will
involve research, development, and performance.
