Name Renewal Criteria
Holland Scholarship
Minimum cumulative MMC grade point 3.0 at the end of each year
Failure to maintain minimum GPA will result in re-award of initial Presidential Scholarship. Must meet Presidential Scholarship GPA requirement of 2.7
If the student does not meet minimum GPA of Presidential Scholarship or Honor Scholarship requirements, the student will not receive the scholarship until eligibility is restored.
Must participate in the Emerging Leader Program. Failure to do so will reduce your scholarship by $1,500
Must be enrolled as a full-time student
Presidential Scholarship
Minimum cumulative MMC grade point 2.7 at the end of each year
Distinguished Honor Scholarship
Minimum cumulative MMC grade point 2.3 at the end of each year
Honor Scholarship
Minimum cumulative MMC grade point 2.0 at the end of each year
Merit Award
Determined by Department
Participation in Mount Mercy Clubs and organizations
Art Scholarship
Determined by Department
Recipients are required to take at least two art courses and attend two art receptions each year at Mount Mercy College
Music Scholarship
Determined by Department
Recipients are required to participate in a choir each fall and spring at Mount Mercy College. Choir does not need to be taken for credit.
Social Work Scholarship
Determined by Department
Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75
Recipient must be making progress toward the completion of the social work major
Speech and Drama
Determined by Department
Participation at a specific level in related activities at Mount Mercy College
All Scholarships
Scholarships apply only to fall and spring semesters
Scholarships are awarded for 4 years
Each year full-time students must successfully complete at least 24 semester hours prior to the start of the next academic year
Each year part-time students must successfully complete at least 12 semester prior to the start of the next academic year
Hours completed prior to starting at Mount Mercy College are not counted toward the annual hour completion requirement but do count toward graduation
For all academic scholarships, other than Holland, if a student fails to meet the minimum GPA required the student will not receive the scholarship until eligibility is restored
The regaining of eligibility does not enable retroactive funding of scholarships
A student may appeal the loss of a scholarship by writing a letter to the Director of Financial Aid. The appeal will be reviewed by the Director of Financial Aid, the Dean of Admission, Vice President for Finance, and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
