Applications for international admission may be obtained online, from the Mount Mercy Admission Office, 1330 Elmhurst Drive NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52402, or by calling 319-368-6460 or 800-248-4504.

Applications for fall enrollment are reviewed on a rolling admission basis until June 1. International students must submit the following items to be considered for admission:

  • Application for Admission with written essay (online or printable application)
  • Official high school transcripts and/or all college transcripts
    • Translated into English by an official English Language Translator or Foreign Credential Evaluation Agency (WES, Court Appointed Translator)
    • Needs seal
    • Needs signature
  • Official scores from a Test of English Language Proficiency
    • TOEFL, STEP Eiken, IELTS (other tests considered using table of approximate equivalency)
    • SAT, ACT - optional
  • Certificate of Finance or letter with affidavit from the bank (certifying funding sources)
  • Two letters of recommendation (upon request)
  • A non-refundable application fee

The Director of Admission or the Admission Committee reviews all files on an individual basis, using a variety of factors to ensure that students admitted to the College are those who are the best fit for Mount Mercy College and whose preparation and experiences suggest that they have the best likelihood of succeeding here.

Admission requirements for unrestricted admission include:

  • 2.5 Core GPA
  • Class Rank in top 50% of class
  • Tests Scores:
    • 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT), or 79 (IBT) TOEFL
    • 6.5 IELTS
    • Grade 1 STEP Eiken
    • 20 ACT/ 940 SAT
      • Alternative tests considered using the Table of Approximate Equivalency
  • The Admission Committee will review all files that do not meet these guidelines. On a case-by-case basis, students may be granted “conditional” admission to the College.
  • If the student is an athlete, they must meet NAIA guidelines in order to be eligible to play (see NAIA Article V, section C and section C.2).
