April 2004 Athletes of the Month



Luke Slaymaker
Senior/Men's Golf
Hometown: Center Point, Iowa

Luke won the Buena Vista University Invitational and finished second at the Wartburg College Invitational. In the first round at Buena Vista, the Center Point native fired a 7-under-par 65 at Spencer Country Club to set school records for lowest 18-hole score and best 18-hole score to par. At Wartburg, Luke set a course record with a 5-under-par 67 in the first round at Centennial Oaks Golf Course in Waverly. He also placed third at the William Penn University Invitational and finished the 2003-04 season with a 74.17 scoring average to set another school mark.



Amy Marshall

Senior/Women's Track & Field
Hometown: Farmington, Iowa

During the month of April, Amy won titles in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Central College Invitational and in the 5,000 meter run and distance medley relay at the Cornell College Ram Relays. The native of Farmington also took third in the steeplechase at the Augustana College (Ill.) Invitational and fourth at the Simpson College Twilight Invitational.
