April 2005 Athletes of the Month

Chris Guerra
Baseball
Junior Center Fielder
Hometown: Fremont, Calif.

Chris batted a staggering .479 with 45 hits, including seven doubles, in 94 at-bats in April. In 25 games, he also scored 17 runs, stole 16 bases and played an errorless center field. In a Midwest Classic Conference doubleheader sweep of Iowa Wesleyan, Chris went 7-for-7 with five runs scored and four RBIs. He was also 5-for-5 while scoring three runs and driving in another in a non-conference win at Upper Iowa.

Diana Meyer
Women's Track & Field
Hometown: Williamsburg, Iowa

Diana began an outstanding month by winning the 100 meter dash (:12.89) at the Cornell Relays. At the Dick Young Classic, she won the 200 meter dash (:26.69), finished second in the 400 meter dash (1:00.88) and helped the women's 4x100 meter relay team to a fifth-place finish (:50.95). Diana wrapped up the month of April at the Drake Relays, where she led the Mustangs to school records in the 4x100 (:49.43), 4x200 (1:46.85) and spring medley (4:21.22) relays.
