February 2004 Athletes of the Month



Brian Buerman
Senior Forward/Men's Basketball
Hometown: Brooklyn Park, Minn.

Brian earned his third athlete of the month award of the 2003-04 season after averaging 19.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.4 steals in eight games. He posted double-doubles in four of those contests, including 34 points and 15 rebounds at Iowa Wesleyan College, 23 points and 10 boards against Grand View College, 10 points and 12 rebounds against Waldorf College and 12 points and 10 boards at The Franciscan University. The Brooklyn Park, Minn., native was the Midwest Classic Conference and NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week Feb. 9, and earned first-team all-conference and NAIA honorable mention all-American honors as well.



Kristin Vannoy

Senior Forward/Women's Basketball
Hometown: Coralville, Iowa

Kristin, honored for the second month in a row, averaged 14.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.5 steals in eight February games. She also shot 50 percent from the field (46-of-93) and 71 percent from the free throw line (17-of-24). The native of Coralville recorded a double-double at Iowa Wesleyan College, scoring 10 points while snagging 12 rebounds. She also had 27 points and eight boards at St. Ambrose University and 20 points and five rebounds against Viterbo University (Wis.). Kristin was a first-team all-Midwest Classic Conference selection.
