October 2003 Athletes of the Month



Pat Keehner
Senior/Men's Cross Country
Hometown: Farmersburg, Iowa

Pat finished the month of October by winning the Midwest Classic Conference meet for the second straight year and leading the men's cross country team to the first league championship in school history. Earlier in the month, the senior from Farmersburg won the Coe College Lamb-Kohawk Invitational and the Upper Iowa University Big Rock Classic.



Amy Marshall

Senior/Women's Cross Country
Hometown: Farmington, Iowa

Amy continued her dominance against Midwest Classic Conference competition, winning her fourth consecutive conference meet while leading the women's cross country squad to their fourth league title. The senior from Farmington also raced to victory at the Upper Iowa University Big Rock Classic and finished third at the Coe College Lamb-Kohawk Invitational.



Luke Slaymaker
Senior/Men's Golf
Hometown: Center Point, Iowa

Luke was named Midwest Classic Conference Player of the Year for the second year in a row after winning the conference tournament. He earned medalist honors with rounds of 75 and a 2-under-par 70. The senior from Center Point was also an all-region performer, finishing runner-up at the NAIA Region VII Tournament with a 1-under-par 143 total (72-71).



Laura Salmon
Freshman/Women's Golf
Hometown: Winona, Minn.

Laura shot a final round 77, a personal best, to come from six shots back to win the Midwest Classic Conference Tournament and earn MCC Player of the Year honors. The freshman from Winona, Minn. also made the all-region team with a second-place finish at the NAIA Region VII Tournament. She led the Mustangs with an 84.50 stroke average, the best fall scoring average in school history.
