September 2004 Athletes of the Month

Nick Miller
Freshman Forward
Men's Soccer
Hometown: Norway, Iowa
Cedar Rapids Prairie High School

Nick led the Mount Mercy men's soccer team with six goals and three assists in 10 games. He scored two goals in a game twice -- in a 3-2 overtime win over Rockford (Ill.) and in a 5-1 victory over Cornell. Only a freshman, Nick has already established himself as one of the top offensive players in the Midwest Classic Conference. He currently leads Mount Mercy with seven goals and four assists and was the MCC Player of the Week for week two of the season, Mount Mercy's first player to receive that honor since Dan Warne in 2000.

Keri Ludwig
Sophomore Midfielder
Women's Soccer
Hometown: Dubuque, Iowa
Hempstead High School

During the first month of the season, Keri had already scored 12 goals, surpassing the single season scoring record of nine set by Christi Anderson in 2002. She also tied the school record for goals in a game with four in a 10-0 win at Mount Mary (Wis.). Keri helped the Mustangs tie the school record for victories in a season with five in September (MMC now has six) and was named to the all-tournament team at the Sal Vaccaro Invitational.
