CEDAR RAPIDS,
Iowa -- Mount Mercy College senior second baseman Daniel Jones,
who batted nearly .700 last week, has been named the Midwest Collegiate
Conference Player of the Week for April 14.
Jones went
8-for-12 at the plate for a .667 average in four games, including
four doubles and a home run. He also scored five times and drove
in five runs. In Sunday's win over Grand View College, Jones was
a triple short of hitting for the cyle, going 4-for-4 with a homer,
two doubles, and four RBIs.
The Mustangs,
who defeated league-leading William Penn University on Tuesday,
host a single, nine-inning contest with Grand View on Wednesday
at 5:30 p.m. at Ken Charipar Field in Cedar Rapids. Mount Mercy
has a three-game set at Iowa Wesleyan College this weekend. First
pitch is 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
