CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy College senior second baseman Daniel Jones, who batted nearly .700 last week, has been named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for April 14.

Jones went 8-for-12 at the plate for a .667 average in four games, including four doubles and a home run. He also scored five times and drove in five runs. In Sunday's win over Grand View College, Jones was a triple short of hitting for the cyle, going 4-for-4 with a homer, two doubles, and four RBIs.

The Mustangs, who defeated league-leading William Penn University on Tuesday, host a single, nine-inning contest with Grand View on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Ken Charipar Field in Cedar Rapids. Mount Mercy has a three-game set at Iowa Wesleyan College this weekend. First pitch is 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
