honors Mount Mercy's Marshall

RAPIDS, Iowa -- Sophomore Mallory Marshall was named Midwest Collegiate
Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week after her
performance at the National Catholic Championships Friday in South
Bend, Ind.
With a time
of 19:45 in the 5K, Marshall finished 25th in a field of 218 runners
in Division 2 of the annual event hosted by Notre Dame University.
Senior Katie Larsen placed 39th (19:55), senior Heather Collum
80th (20:44), sophomore Chelsea Kvidera 85th (20:50), freshman
Erin Behan 102nd (21:00), senior Melissa Caster 112th (21:08),
and senior Katie Schlutz 114th (21:10). As a team, Mount Mercy
was 10th out of 26 in Division 2 and 18th out of 37 teams overall.
On the men's
side, the Mustangs were 20th out of 24 teams in Division 2 and
30th out of 35 teams overall. Sophomore Scott Becker and seniors
Bryan Johnson and Matt Hilby finished 82nd (28:48), 92nd (29:15),
and 94th (29:16) in Division 2. Senior Greg Blythe placed 117th
(30:02), freshman Matthew Clarke 132nd (30:41), sophomore Matt
John 140th (31:29), and senior Michael Daws 141st (31:34).
Mount Mercy
competes at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Friday at 5:00
p.m. at Credit Island Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill. Then after
two weeks off, the Mustangs head to Kenosha, Wis., site of the
2007 NAIA national meet, for the Carthage (Wis.) Invitational
on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 11:00 a.m.
