From team
practice to game day to a flurry of intramural sports, there's
always action at Hennessey Recreation Center. The 32,000 square
foot facility, named in honor of Sister Mary Agnes Hennessey,
is home court for Mount Mercy College athletics. Built into a
hill on the northeast corner of campus, it's three levels of opportunity
for physical fitness and personal growth through athletic development.
The natural light pouring in from skylights across the full width
of the building brightens all three levels.
The recreation
center offers practice facilities, a weight room, fully-equipped
training room and separate locker rooms for general use and those
designated for the student athletes in men's and women's sports.
At the heart of the Hennessey Recreation Center is the hardwood
court with seating for 2,000 fans. In addition, the recreation
center has a regulation-sized racquetball court, lounge and reception
areas, a classroom/conference room and the athletic department
offices.
The recreation
center is also open to the general public. To register for a yearly
Hennessey membership, please contact the Mount Mercy athletic
department at 319-363-1323 ext. 1376.
