CEDAR RAPIDS,
Iowa -- Senior forward Curtis Kilgore scored a game-high 24 points
and senior guard Rodney Jackson added 16 to lead the Mount Mercy
College men's basketball team to a 77-65 victory over Grand View
College in Midwest Collegiate Conference action Tuesday at Hennessey
Recreation Center.
The Mustangs
shot nearly 60 percent from the floor, including 67 percent in
the second period (14-of-21), and outrebounded the Vikings, 38-16.
Grand View (4-10, 0-1 MCC) only committed six turnovers, but were
just 7-of-23 from 3-point range and 12-of-22 from the free throw
line. Mount Mercy (8-5, 1-1 MCC) went 9-of-20 from beyond the
arc and hit 12-of-16 foul shots to get their second straight win.
Kilgore was
nearly perfect, going 10-of-11 from the floor, including 2-for-2
from 3-point range. He also nailed both of his free throws and
shared game-high honors with seven rebounds. Jackson also hit
a pair of triples and collected five boards. Senior forward Brett
McGee added 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Senior
guard James Scott had 10 points, junior forward Brandon Barnhart
grabbed seven boards, and junior guard Eric Raasch handed out
four assists.
Pat Hoberg
led the Vikings with 17 points. Chris Worcester chipped in 15
points and five rebounds, Dan Brandhorst 14 points, three boards,
and three assists.
Mount Mercy
travels to Sioux City, Iowa, on Thursday to take on undefeated
and NAIA Division II second-ranked Morningside College (12-0)
at 7:30 p.m. at the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center.
