Open Spring Season at Viking Classic

GRANGER,
Iowa -- The Mount Mercy College men's golf team opened the spring
season over the weekend, finishing fourth in a 12-team field at
the Grand View College Viking Classic Friday and Saturday.
The Mustangs
were fourth with a 585 team score. Three Midwest Classic Conference
foes finished in front of Mount Mercy, led by team champion Grand
View at 564. St. Ambrose University was next at 568, followed
by Iowa Wesleyan College at 581. Mount Mercy was nine strokes
better than Iowa Lakes Community College, which placed fifth at
594.
Sophomore
Shane Parmenter was the top finisher for the Mustangs, tying for
11th after rounds of 70 and 73 gave him a 143 total. Seniors Ryan
Flugum (75-71=146) and Dustin Moser (74-72=146) tied for 16th,
senior Joe Whitman (74-76=150) tied for 21st and sophomore Justin
Leas (75-77=152) finished 33rd.
After two
weeks off, Mount Mercy heads to northwest Iowa for the Buena Vista
University Invitational Friday-Saturday, April 13-14. Tee times
begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Spencer Country Club in Spencer,
Iowa, and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Lake Creek Country Club
in Storm Lake, Iowa.
