Whitman Finish in Top Five

OSKALOOSA,
Iowa -- Junior Ryan Flugum was runner-up and senior Joe Whitman
finished third, leading the Mount Mercy College men's golf team
to third place at the William Penn University Invitational on
Friday at Edmundson Golf Course.
Flugum carded
rounds of 70 and 76 for a 146 total, four strokes behind medalist
Jeff Millet from Central College (142). Whitman posted rounds
of 76 and 72 to finish third at 148. Senior Dustin Moser (77-74=151),
competing as an individual, and sophomore Shane Parmenter (77-74=151)
tied for ninth. Sophomore Justin Leas tied for 31st (80-78=158)
and junior Bryan Von Roden tied for 41st (78-86=164).
Central won
the team title with a 587 total. Simpson College was second at
600, with the Mustangs right behind at 601.
Mount Mercy
has three meets left this fall, beginning with the Iowa Wesleyan
College Invitational Thursday-Friday at 8:30 a.m. at Burlington
Country Club in Burlington, Iowa. The Mustangs have a couple weeks
off before the Grand View College Invitational on Tuesday, Oct.
10, at 10:00 a.m. at Otter Creek. The fall season concludes with
the NAIA Region VII Tournament Oct. 16-17 at Eagle Ridge Golf
Course in Galena, Ill.
