DODGE, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy College men's golf team opened
the spring season at the Grand View College Classic Sunday and
Monday, finishing 12th in a 17-team field at the Fort Dodge Country
Club.
Justin Leas
was Mount Mercy's top golfer at Grand View, finishing in a tie
for 32nd after rounds of 77 and 79 for a 156 total. Jason Juhl
(79-79=158) tied for 42nd, Shane Parmenter (75-84=159) tied for
48th, Trent Jordan (93-84=177) tied for 88th, and Travis Dirks
(97-93=190) placed 93rd for the Mustangs.
Host Grand
View won the team title by one stroke over Dakota Wesleyan University
(S.D.), 590 to 591. Iowa Wesleyan College (596) was third, Kirkwood
Community College (599) fourth, and Waldorf College (606). Waldorf's
Brett Nymeyer was medalist with a 142 total after rounds of 69
and 73.
Next up for
the Mustangs is the Ashford University Invitational on Monday
at 12:30 p.m. at the Clinton Country Club in Clinton, Iowa.
