RAPIDS, Iowa -- Just three days after snapping a seven-game losing
streak, the Mount Mercy College men's soccer team picked up its
second straight win, a 4-2 decision over Viterbo University (Wis.)
in Midwest Collegiate Conference action on Seniors Day Saturday
at Lower Kingston Field.
Senior midfielder
Chad Hollmer made his final regular season home game a memorable
one, scoring the first goal of the match in the 27th minute to
give the Mustangs (4-7-1, 2-4-0 MCC) a 1-0 lead and then assisting
junior forward Nick Miller's go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute
after two straight scores by the V-Hawks (3-9-0, 0-5-0 MCC) knotted
the match at 2-2. Sophomore midfielder Derek Oja, on an assist
by sophomore forward Bryan Jahava, and sophomore forward Zlatko
Tomic scored Mount Mercy's other two goals against Viterbo.
The Mustangs
are on the road at William Penn University for an MCC match on
Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Mount Mercy wraps up
the week with a non-conference contest at Cornell College on Sunday,
