RAPIDS, Iowa -- Clarke College's Jason Reno scored the game-winning
goal in the 57th minute as the visiting Crusaders topped Mount
Mercy College, 2-1, in Midwest Collegiate Conference men's soccer
at a soggy Lower Kingston Field on Tuesday.
It was the
sixth loss in a row for the Mustangs (2-6-1, 0-3-0 MCC), who remained
winless in the MCC. Junior forward Nick Miller's goal, on an assist
by sophomore midfielder Scott Becker, snapped Mount Mercy's two-game
scoreless streak. Clarke, which got on the board first on a score
by Dustin Whelan in the 32nd minute, improved to 3-6-0 overall
and 2-0-0 in league play.
The Mustangs
continue conference action on Saturday when they take on Iowa
Wesleyan College at 2:00 p.m. in Burlington, Iowa. Next week,
Mount Mercy hosts their final two regular season home games. Waldorf
College visits Lower Kingston on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. before
Viterbo University (Wis.) arrives for a 3:00 p.m. match on Seniors
Day, Saturday, Oct. 6.
