will play softball at Mount Mercy

RAPIDS, Iowa -- Briana
DeFlavio of Simi Valley High School (Calif.) has signed a letter
of intent to play softball at Mount Mercy College, Head Softball
Coach Glenn Johnson announced.
DeFlavio has
played a variety of positions, including catcher, third base,
and outfield. The Simi Valley, Calif., native has been a varsity
team captain for three years. She was Simi Valley’s Most
Valuable Player as a sophomore, the same year she earned the Catcher’s
Award. This season, DeFlavio and Simi Valley have surpassed the
Ventura County record for consecutive wins at 22-0.
DeFlavio is
the eighth player to sign with Mount Mercy for the 2008-09 campaign.
She joins Becca Smith of Solon, Therese O’Shea of Glenbard
South (Ill.), Sheena Canady and Brianna Williams of Kirkwood Community
College, Mariah Early of Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Katelynn Edwards
of Marion, and Chelcee Wilhite of Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne on next
year’s roster.
