Two
more commit to Mount Mercy softball program

CEDAR
RAPIDS, Iowa -- Right-hander
Mariah Early of Cedar Rapids Jefferson and catcher Katelynn Edwards
of Marion have signed letters of intent to join the Mount Mercy
College softball program, Head Coach Glenn Johnson announced.
Early has
been a varsity player for four years and is a three-year letter
winner for the J-Hawks. She was first-team all-Metro and second-team
all-Mississippi Valley Conference as a sophomore. As a junior,
Early was first-team all-district, first-team all-Metro, and first-team
all-conference. Last season, Early was also a second-team all-state
selection and was runner-up in the MVC Player of the Year voting.
Edwards has
been a four-year varsity starter for the Indians. She has earned
second-team all-WAMAC recognition and been a member of Marion’s
Honor Roll.
Mount Mercy’s
2008-09 recruiting class includes six players. Early and Edwards
join Becca Smith of Solon, Therese O’Shea of Glenbard South
(Ill.), and Sheena Canady and Brianna Williams of Kirkwood Community
College on next year’s roster.
