CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy College junior Liz Lange and senior Kaylon Spengler have been named Midwest Classic Conference Track Athletes of the Week for Feb. 6.

It's the second such honor for both student-athletes, who led the Mustangs at the Hilltop Invitational hosted by Cornell College Saturday at the Small Multi-Sport Center in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Lange claimed the award for the second week in a row, while Spengler picked up his first award Jan. 23.

Lange set a school record while finishing second in the women's 200 meter dash (:27.13). She also placed third in the 55 meter dash (:07.61) and teamed with freshman Channing Weigel, senior Christine French and sophomore Diana Meyer to set a school mark while taking third place in the 4x400 meter relay in 4:16.39. Spengler finished fifth in the men's 5,000 meter run (16:31.82) and seventh in the 1,000 meters (2:54.14). His times in both events were the best in the MCC this season.

Meyer and sophomore Katie Larsen also set school records at the Hilltop Invitational. Meyer set a new standard while finishing second in the 400 meter dash (1:02.79), while Larsen became the first woman in school history to run the indoor 5,000 meters in under 20 minutes (19:56.09).
