Posted 4/25/07 10:26 AM

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- For the second week in a row, a Mount Mercy College student-athlete has been named Midwest Classic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Freshman Mallory Marshall is this week's honoree after winning the 10,000 meter run with a school-record time of 39:49.36 at the Augustana College (Ill.) Invitational on April 20. It's also the top performance in the MCC in that event this spring. Freshman Alyssa Maher was the MCC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for April 16.

The Mount Mercy men's and women's track & field teams will compete at the Kip Janvrin Simpson College Open on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Indianola, Iowa. Next week, the Mustangs will go for their fourth straight MCC women's outdoor championship and first-ever men's outdoor title at the 2007 Midwest Classic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday-Friday, May 3-4, in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
