Named MCC Female Track Athlete of the Week

RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount
Mercy College freshman Mallory Marshall was named Midwest Classic
Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week for Jan. 22, the league
announced today.
Marshall won
the 5,000 meter run (20:08.25) and placed third in the 3,000 meter
run (11:52.55) as the Mount Mercy track & field teams opened
the indoor season at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Open
Saturday in Platteville, Wis.
Six other
Mount Mercy runners earned top-five finishes, including junior
Katie Larsen, seniors Katie Huether and Tera Behning, freshman
Alyssa Maher, junior Bryan Johnson and freshman Matthew John.
Larsen placed second in the 5,000 meters (20:21.09) and fourth
in the 3,000 meters (11:55.92). Huether was fourth (5:59.57) and
Behning fifth (6:00.58) in the one mile run, while Maher came
in fourth in the 55 meter hurdles (:09.45). Johnson finished fourth
in the men's 5,000 meters (17:20.46) and John fifth in the 1,000
meter run (3:08.05).
The Mustangs
compete again at the Hilltop Invitational, hosted by Cornell College
on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 10:00 a.m. in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Mount
Mercy travels to the Dennis Young Invitational hosted by Buena
Vista University on Friday, Feb. 9, at 3:00 p.m. in Storm Lake,
Iowa.
