Mercy Runners Earn All-Conference Honors

CEDAR RAPIDS,
Iowa -- Mount Mercy College claimed seven Midwest Classic Conference
indoor track & field championships this winter, based on performances
during the 2007 indoor season, the league announced today.
Freshmen Mallory
Marshall, Alyssa Maher and Chelsea Kvidera earned individual titles.
Marshall garnered three championships, posting the league’s
best performances in the mile run, 3,000 meter run and 5,000 meter
run. Maher took the 60 meter hurdle crown and was an NAIA indoor
national meet qualifier for the Mustangs, while Kvidera posted
the MCC’s top time in the 600 meter run.
Mount Mercy
also earned a pair of relay titles. Seniors Tera Behning and Katie
Huether, junior Melissa Caster and Kvidera teamed up for the 4x800
meter relay championship. Caster, Kvidera, Marshall and junior
Katie Larsen had the MCC’s top performance in the distance
medley relay, a race they competed in at the NAIA indoor national
meet.
The Mustang
men's and women's track & field teams open the outdoor season
at the Viking Olympics, hosted by Augustana College (Ill.), on
Saturday, March 31, at noon in Rock Island, Ill.
