CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy College claimed seven Midwest Classic Conference indoor track & field championships this winter, based on performances during the 2007 indoor season, the league announced today.

Freshmen Mallory Marshall, Alyssa Maher and Chelsea Kvidera earned individual titles. Marshall garnered three championships, posting the league’s best performances in the mile run, 3,000 meter run and 5,000 meter run. Maher took the 60 meter hurdle crown and was an NAIA indoor national meet qualifier for the Mustangs, while Kvidera posted the MCC’s top time in the 600 meter run.

Mount Mercy also earned a pair of relay titles. Seniors Tera Behning and Katie Huether, junior Melissa Caster and Kvidera teamed up for the 4x800 meter relay championship. Caster, Kvidera, Marshall and junior Katie Larsen had the MCC’s top performance in the distance medley relay, a race they competed in at the NAIA indoor national meet.

The Mustang men's and women's track & field teams open the outdoor season at the Viking Olympics, hosted by Augustana College (Ill.), on Saturday, March 31, at noon in Rock Island, Ill.
