CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Mount Mercy College senior Katie Larsen and sophomore Alyssa Maher will compete at the 2008 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships later this week at the Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn.

Larsen qualified in the 3,000 meter run at the Nike Impact Sports Open on Feb. 16, where she posted the top time in the Midwest Collegiate Conference this season and shattered her own school record by more than 20 seconds.

Maher will make her second straight appearance at the indoor national meet in the 60 meter hurdles. She reached the qualifying standard in the 55 meter hurdles in Mount Mercy’s first outing of the season at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Open on Jan. 19. Maher later set a school record in the event and owns the top time in the MCC this season.

Maher and Larsen get underway on Friday. The preliminaries for the 60 meter hurdles start at 1:00 p.m. with the semifinals at 2:35 p.m. The 3,000 meter semis are at 5:10 p.m. Saturday’s schedule includes the finals of the 60 meter hurdles at 12:45 p.m. and the finals of the 3,000 meters at 2:05 p.m. Click here for a complete schedule of the 2008 NAIA indoor meet.
