Mercy College duo headed to NAIA indoor national meet

Iowa -- Mount
Mercy College senior Katie Larsen and sophomore Alyssa Maher will
compete at the 2008 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships
later this week at the Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn.
Larsen qualified
in the 3,000 meter run at the Nike Impact Sports Open on Feb.
16, where she posted the top time in the Midwest Collegiate Conference
this season and shattered her own school record by more than 20
seconds.
Maher will
make her second straight appearance at the indoor national meet
in the 60 meter hurdles. She reached the qualifying standard in
the 55 meter hurdles in Mount Mercy’s first outing of the
season at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Open on Jan.
19. Maher later set a school record in the event and owns the
top time in the MCC this season.
Maher and
Larsen get underway on Friday. The preliminaries for the 60 meter
hurdles start at 1:00 p.m. with the semifinals at 2:35 p.m. The
3,000 meter semis are at 5:10 p.m. Saturday’s schedule includes
the finals of the 60 meter hurdles at 12:45 p.m. and the finals
of the 3,000 meters at 2:05 p.m. Click
