CEDAR RAPIDS,
Iowa -- Freshman Erin Behan, winner of the 5,000 meter run at
the Viking Olympics hosted by Augustana College (Ill.) on Saturday,
has been named Midwest Collegiate Conference Women's Track Athlete
of the Week for March 31.
Behan won
the 5,000 meters in 19:10.08, the second-best time in the MCC
this outdoor season. Her time also ranks seventh in school history.
Freshman Kelsey
Hansen had a record-breaking performance in the hammer throw.
Her 121'-9" toss shattered Jill Schueller's school record
of 105'-1" at Coe College in 2004. The Mount Mercy men's
4x800 meter relay team also set a school mark, finishing in 8:09.93
to better the previous standard of 8:11.39 at Central College
in 2000.
The Mustangs
will be in action again on Saturday when they visit Pella, Iowa,
for the Central College Invitational at 10:00 a.m. Mount Mercy
competes at the Cornell College Invitational on Saturday, April
12, at 10:00 a.m. in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
