CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Freshman Erin Behan, winner of the 5,000 meter run at the Viking Olympics hosted by Augustana College (Ill.) on Saturday, has been named Midwest Collegiate Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for March 31.

Behan won the 5,000 meters in 19:10.08, the second-best time in the MCC this outdoor season. Her time also ranks seventh in school history.

Freshman Kelsey Hansen had a record-breaking performance in the hammer throw. Her 121'-9" toss shattered Jill Schueller's school record of 105'-1" at Coe College in 2004. The Mount Mercy men's 4x800 meter relay team also set a school mark, finishing in 8:09.93 to better the previous standard of 8:11.39 at Central College in 2000.

The Mustangs will be in action again on Saturday when they visit Pella, Iowa, for the Central College Invitational at 10:00 a.m. Mount Mercy competes at the Cornell College Invitational on Saturday, April 12, at 10:00 a.m. in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
