CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Highland High School standout Rebecca Lampe has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Mount Mercy College, Head Women’s Basketball Coach Shawn Stimmel announced.

Lampe, a 6-0 guard, averaged 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals per game over the final two years of her prep career. As a junior, she was an Iowa Class 1A second-team all-state pick by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association (IGCA) and third-team all-state choice by the Des Moines Register after leading Highland to a 17-5 record and state tournament berth. Lampe was an IGCA first-team all-state selection and third-team all-state honoree by the Register as a senior.

Lampe, the daughter of Dennis and Ann Lampe, was a two-time first-team all-district pick by the IGCA. She was also a two-time first-team all-South East Iowa Super Conference selection and two-time SISC North Division Player of the Year.

“Becca had a great high school career and knows the game of basketball,” Stimmel said. “She uses her size well and we’ll look to take advantage of that even more. We’re excited to add another player to our recruiting class from a winning program and one that has played at a very high level. We’re expecting good things from Becca.”

Lampe, who will also play volleyball at Mount Mercy, is the second Highland prep to join the Mustang women’s basketball program. Teammate Kristi Branham will play for Mount Mercy as well, along with Adrian Nelson of Oelwein High School and Terri Dirks of Monticello High School.
