CEDAR RAPIDS,
Iowa -- Senior forwards Chelsie Patik and Addie McCreedy combined
for 30 points and 19 rebounds on Seniors Day, leading Mount Mercy
College to an 82-65 win over Ashford University in Midwest Collegiate
Conference women's basketball on Saturday at Hennessey Recreation
Center.
Mount Mercy's
chances of hosting an MCC Tournament quarterfinal also got a boost,
as the Mustangs (10-17, 7-7 MCC) moved into a tie for fourth place
with Waldorf College (15-12, 7-7 MCC) with two regular season
games remaining.
Patik posted
her first career double-double, finishing with 15 points and a
career-high 13 rebounds for the Mustangs, who held a 44-27 advantage
on the glass. McCreedy tallied 15 points and six boards, junior
guard Jessie Dirks 15 points and four rebounds. Junior forward
Katie Manning and freshman forward Emilie Warren added eight points
each off the bench. Patik and junior guard Kelli Dabroski shared
game-high honors with four assists apiece.
Bethany Mahmens
and Kayla Crist led the Saints (10-17, 3-11 MCC) with 15 points
each. Michelle Wolley chipped in 13 points, Jordan Davis nine.
Mahmens and Davis collected five rebounds, Davis dealt three assists,
and Mahmens recorded a game-high four steals.
Mount Mercy
wraps up the regular season on the road next week. The Mustangs
go to William Penn University (14-15, 5-10 MCC) on Wednesday for
a 5:30 p.m. tip at Penn Gym in Oskaloosa, Iowa, then travel to
Viterbo University (Wis.) (12-16, 7-7 MCC) on Saturday to take
on the V-Hawks at 1:00 p.m. at R.W. Beggs Gymnasium in La Crosse,
Wis.
