RAPIDS, Iowa -- Kristi
Branham of Highland High School will continue her basketball career
at Mount Mercy College, Head Coach Shawn Stimmel announced.
Branham, a
5-9 forward, helped Head Coach Jody Fink and the Huskies to a
17-5 record and a berth in the Iowa Class 1A state tournament
as a junior. As a senior, she was a second-team all-state selection
by the Iowa Newspaper Association (INA). The first-team all-district
and first-team all-South East Iowa Super Conference pick averaged
14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals per
game.
“Kristi
is a good addition to our recruiting class,” said Stimmel.
“She comes from a very successful program and was well coached
by Jody Fink. Kristi is very competitive, hates to lose, and will
compete for playing time immediately. Being our first recruiting
class, we want to increase both the talent level and intensity
with which we play and Kristi will bring both components next
year.”
Branham joins
Adrian Nelson of Oelwein High School in Mount Mercy’s 2008-09
recruiting class.

Highland's
Kristi Branham has signed a letter of intent to play college basketball
at Mount Mercy in 2008-09.
