To help you do your very best academically, spiritually, physically,
socially and mentally, Mount Mercy College offers counseling and
personal coaching to students at no charge.
Counseling
Occasionally,
academic, personal and social pressures can feel so overwhelming
that you are unable to function to the best of your ability. In
a relaxed and comfortable setting, the Counseling Center staff
can assist you in talking through whatever is on your mind and
finding solutions to your problems. Conversations with your counselor
are confidential, and your use of the service does not appear
on your transcript.
Counseling
includes, but is not limited to:
- Roommate
problems
- Interpersonal
and family relationships
- Depression
and anxiety
- Sexuality
- Eating
disorders
- Pre-marital
and marital counseling
Personal
Coaching
Personal coaching
is an interactive process between you and your personal coach,
who is trained and dedicated to helping students succeed in a
specific endeavor. Like an athletic coach, a personal coach helps
you define and reach your goals. Your goals may be academics or
in any other area where you want to achieve your personal best.
Your personal coach will work with you to get focused, develop
skills and to take action. Your coach will also provide structure,
suggestions and encouragement.
A personal
coach can be of assistance with:
- Maximizing
academic performance
- Creating
a satisfying social life
- Establishing
effective study skills
- Transforming
relationships with family members
- Managing
time for maximum performance and good health
- Creating
a balanced lifestyle
