    Emerging Leaders Overview

In every instance possible, Emerging Leaders activities overlap with the other aspects of Mount Mercy student life. Faculty members take part as advisors to clubs and organizations, and as facilitators or mentors to third- and fourth-year students.

Emerging Leaders are challenged to make connections between servant leadership perspectives and the perspectives found in their academic classes. Students are encouraged to apply the principles of servant leaders every day.

Above all, the activities offered by the program strive to find a balance among its four cornerstones:
Service
“Remember if there are a hundred regulations to be served, the most important is charity.” - Catherine McAuley

Involvement
“The key to an effective learning experience is student involvement.” - Alexander Astin

Reflection
“Reflection is essential to the learning process, for it can link the concrete to the abstract.” - Julie A. Hatcher and Robert G. Bringle

Education
“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” - John F. Kennedy
