The Mount
Mercy Health Services Department encourages the best choices for
a healthy lifestyle, and its goal is to assist students, faculty
and staff in the process of learning to independently select healthy
behavior. A healthy lifestyle encompasses intellectual, social,
spiritual, physical, emotional and occupational components. The
entire Mount Mercy community can participate in any Health Services
programs.
Health Services
is open from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Friday while classes are in
session. A registered nurse is available to students, faculty
and staff for services that include consultation and assistance
in improving health and well-being. Assessment of the physical
and psychological needs is the focus of the consultation. Many
over-the-counter medications are available to students, faculty
and staff free of charge. Students are referred to services on
campus and in the community, and include, but are not limited
to, physicians, counselors or medical clinics. Some educational
programs include weight management, blood pressure and blood sugar
monitoring, diabetes support and education and smoking cessation
classes.
