What is Lundy
Commons? It's the Mount Mercy student union! There's a main lounge
with a big screen TV, as well as a game room with pool tables,
ping pong, air hockey and more. You can check out fun games like
Trivial Pursuit, Twister and Yahtzee. Lundy is also where the
Mount Mercy Activities Planning Board hosts a majority of its
programs, and it is also where Club Friday, a weekly activity
for students, faculty and staff, takes place.
The Lundy
Fitness Center, which opened in the fall of 2003, was a collaborative
effort by the Student Government Association and college administration
and gives students and employees of Mount Mercy an inviting fitness
facility. The center has three Precore elliptical machines, three
Precore treadmills and one Precore recumbent bike, weight machines
and free weights. The exercise room, available for class and individual
use, is equipped with stability balls, jump ropes, bands, exercise
mats, medicine balls and more. Classes offered during the school
year include an Abs and Toning class and Step Aerobics class.
Several important
offices are also located in Lundy, including the director of campus
activities, coordinator of recreation and wellness, the Student
Government Association and the Mount Mercy Times school
newspaper. The Clubs and Organizations room has storage space
and is within minutes of four meeting rooms in lower Lundy.
You can also
find the Bookstore on the upper level of Lundy. The Bookstore
not only has books, but has school supplies, Mount Mercy paraphernalia,
cards, stamps and candy.
