    Pope John XXIII Symposium

Dr. Charlotte McCorquodale

The Institute at Mount Mercy College will offer the first annual Pope John XXIII Symposium on Thursday, June 5, 2008. The theme of this first Symposium is “Christian Youth and Modern Culture.” The day will feature a keynote address by Dr. Charlotte McCorquodale, co-author of the 2004 study National Study of Youth and Religion: Analysis of the Population of Catholic Teenagers and their Parents.

A $75 registration fee is made payable to Mount Mercy College. Groups of three or more are $65 each. Take an additional $10 off if you register before December 1, 2007. Registration is transferable but nonrefundable. Lunch and refreshments are included in the registration fee.

Responding to McCorquodale, the following three participants will enrich the discussion from pastoral, psychological and theological perspectives: Kevin Feyen, the director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Archdiocese of Dubuque; Dr. Melody Graham, social psychologist, specializing in adolescent and woman’s issues; and Dr. Charlotte Martin, chair of the Religious Studies Department at Mount Mercy College.

Special rates are available for organizations that send three of more participants. For questions about the symposium, please contact Dr. Charlotte Martin at 319-363-1323 ext. 1551 or chmartin@mtmercy.edu. For questions about registration, download a brochure or contact Tom Castle, Dean of the Institute, at 319-363-1323 ext 1843 or tom@mtmercy.edu.
