The Department
of Safety and Security at Mount Mercy College contributes to the
quality of college life by providing the overall safekeeping of
the institution and its properties. In order to maintain an environment
that is favorable to this academic excellence, members of the
Safety and Security Department are committed to enforcing all
laws, ordinances and policies of the state and the college. By
displaying a professional and community-first attitude, we strive
for a high level of safety services to the college community.
The objective
of the safety and security staff is the protection of those at
Mount Mercy. This includes students, employees, guests and property
owned by the institution. The primary objective of the department
is to aid students in their attempts to obtain an education. Thus,
the first concern is the protection and welfare of students. The
department shall also protect faculty and staff in their performance
of duties. As members of the public come to campus, as visitors,
the department shall have the responsibility of assisting and
protecting them while they are within the college’s jurisdiction.
We shall also be responsible for the protection of all college
property. The Department of Safety and Security will accomplish
these objectives by following the approved procedures and providing
prompt and courtesy service.
