Mount Mercy Art Department

Art Galleries
There are two primary spaces where regular art exhibitions are help, The Janalyn Hanson White Gallery and the Lundy Commons Gallery. In addition, artwork is frequently on display in the Art Department on 4th and 5th floors of Warde Hall, in Busse Library, and elsewhere on campus.

Because of a generous endowment from the Tim and Jan White Family of Cedar Rapids, The Janalyn Hanson White Gallery in lower McAuley Hall has been recently renovated. The gallery has month long exhibitions of nationally and regionally known artists who apply years in advance to exhibit in our space. Since the gallery is intended as a teaching tool we generally invite artists of national reputation who work in a variety of media. Very often these artists come to meet with students and give a lecture with the opening reception of their exhibit. In recent months we have had exhibitions of painting, drawing, digital Video interactive works, installation, fiber arts, printmaking, sculpture and video by artists from New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis, Mexico, and London.

Special exhibitions of work by alumnae, current students, area elementary and secondary school students, and regional art therapy programs are often featured in the Lundy Commons gallery.
