Mount Mercy College Professor to Present Research on
Civil Rights Movement and Racial Integration
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (February 18, 2008) – Mount Mercy College Professor of Sociology Mohammad Chaichian will speak regarding the Civil Rights Movement and racial integration on February 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Flaherty Community Room, located in Basile Hall on the Mount Mercy College campus.

Chaichian, Mount Mercy College professor of sociology and recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), will present his research regarding the Civil Rights Movement, strides that have been made in the area of racial integration in the North and the South, and the remaining political and legal challenges to racial desegregation. Chaichian’s presentation is part of the Race and Gender Series hosted by Mount Mercy College. The talk is free and open to the public.
