Mount Mercy College’s SIFE Team to Host netEthics
Panel Discussion
CEDAR
RAPIDS, Iowa (February 18, 2008) – Mount Mercy College’s
Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team will host a panel discussion
on Tuesday, February 19 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Flaherty
Community Room in Basile Hall on the Mount Mercy campus.
The panel
discussion, titled “netEthics,” will address the legal/ethical
issues surrounding downloading copyrighted materials, responsible
use of personal internet web pages such as Facebook and MySpace,
and the ethics of employers checking potential employees’
backgrounds using personal internet web pages.
The panel
will be made up of attorney Matt Krigbaum of the law firm of Moyer
& Bergman, PLC; Amy Eglseder, a member of the professional
staffing group at Rockwell Collins; Tim McLees, Mount mercy director
of administrative software; and student Michael Kaduce, a junior
from Mount Mercy.
SIFE, the
largest student organization in the world, provides students the
opportunity to make a difference by developing leadership skills
through learning, practicing, and teaching the principles of the
free enterprise system. During the 2006-07 school year the Mount
Mercy SIFE team completed 47 service projects, volunteered more
than 2,050 hours and taught more than 6,719 people free enterprise
principles and the skills necessary to be successful in the global
marketplace. The students worked with several elementary, middle
and high schools, children of all age groups, seniors, and community
organizations in Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities.
